katrina-kaif-saree

Mumbai: It was a classic example of ‘much ado about nothing’ when Katrina Kaif and director Prakash Jha had a heated argument over Kat’s ‘royal reservations’ about donning pastel saris in ‘Raajneeti.’

For a fashion icon, a sudden de-glamorous avatar for Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti’ wasn’t an easy shift for Katrina, who plays a politician in the film. Celebrated as one of the most fashionable stars in Bollywood, carrying light-coloured saris became a bone of contention between the actress and the director recently.

The initial discussion about the shades of saris could have been spiraled into a full-blown squabble. Talking to a news daily, a close source from the unit said, “Katrina plays a politician and Jha had selected the costumes to suit her character. However, Katrina expressed her doubts about wearing the dull saris and asked Jha to let her wear simple but dark coloured sarees. She particularly wasn’t convinced about the off-white saris she was asked to wear.”

Meanwhile, Jha amiably clarified to Katrina the reason behind wearing plain saris as the source added, “He told her that though she is an actress, she plays a politician and it’s essential that she wear such colours in ‘Raajneeti.’ The discussion went on for a long time and nearly erupted into an argument. Eventually, Katrina did understand Jha’s point of view.”

When asked by reporters about the same, Prakash laughed off the entire episode and genially said, “It was a healthy discussion.”
